Security Papers

The first line of defence against the fraudulent copying of security documents is the base material, so it is vitally important to select the most appropriate paper for your document.

The first aspect of a security paper to consider is its availability. Restricted materials are only available to security printers and are therefore difficult for fraudsters to obtain.

Below is a guide to the materials we use to protect your documents.

CBS1 security paper
CBS1 is the standard security paper used for the manufacturing of cheques. The material is UV dull, enabling us to print invisible UV ink features. This paper is also chemically sensitised to highlight any fraudulent attempts to alter the cheque with solvents.

Watermarked Papers

Quantum Security hold a range of restricted watermarked papers ranging from 90gsm – 160gsm.

Existing off-the-shelf watermarked paper.
This is the most cost effective watermarked paper.

Bespoke watermarked paper.
We can create a bespoke watermark to your own design if required, to emphasise your brand and provide an increased level of protection. This requires the production of a custom dandy roller made at the mill, a relatively expensive process with extended lead times, so it is generally only suitable for very large volumes.

Iris watermarked paper
Our watermarked paper offers an excellent balance between the cost benefits of a regular watermarked paper and the additional security benefits of a bespoke material. It is available in a range of weights (95gsm, 120gsm, 150gsm and 160gsm).

Additional Paper Features

There are a range of additional features that can be added to any paper to improve the level of security in your document.

Toner adhesion properties can be added to the paper to improve the way laser toner bonds to the base material.

Visible and invisible fluorescent paper fibres can be added as a covert feature, making the paper even more difficult for fraudsters to acquire or reproduce.

Embedded threads can be added as a covert feature in the paper at the paper making stage, making the paper even more difficult for fraudsters to acquire or reproduce.
